Now in its sixth year of business, NorthStar Forge specializes in producing custom blades, handcrafted handles and guards, as well as professional knife sharpening and restoration. Starting as just a hobby, Kraus’ passion quickly evolved into a custom bladesmithing company, NorthStar Forge located in Carver, MN. Jason, 35, discovered his passion for forging blades seven years ago and began learning from masters of the trade. “It truly is an art that not only takes a profound amount of talent, but also a passion and respect for the craft of bladesmithing.” “I really hope that after watching this show, viewers come away with a new appreciation for bladesmithing,” explains Kraus. Through these challenges, viewers will witness the sheer amount of work that is required to forge a blade from raw, and sometimes unusual, materials. The work of each contestant is judged and a winner is selected at the end of the show. Throughout this episode, Jason and the other contestants are challenged to complete various tasks involving a range of skills essential to the bladesmithing trade. The episode was filmed in August of 2016 in New York City and the airdate has yet to be announced. Kraus will be a featured contestant in one episode of the upcoming season along with three other contestants. The second half of season three of Forged in Fire is set to debut on Tuesday, January 10 th at 9:00 pm CST on the History Channel with Jason's episode to air on February 7th.
